Welcome to the world Brijin Joy

I'm so sorry for keeping you all in suspense...

We returned home from a family of two to three from hospital with our new, baby girl Brijin Joy Wednesday night and have been tending to her needs since. I finally feel like I have a moment where I will choose five minutes of blogging over five minutes of sleep... Amazing.

She arrived at 9:04 p.m. on Memorial Day at a long and skinny 7.0 lbs and 20.5 in.

The first thing I noticed were her big lips. :) Later, with help from our friends and family who visited, we awed at her long fingers and gigantic feet! Not long after, my husband and I realized just how precious and scary taking care of this delicate, little life is and will be.

I have so much to catch you up on. I'd like to document so many things from the past week, if Brijin will let me sleep enough to think through it and have the time to type it out! LOL!

I want to share the following:
  • My birth plan compared to my labor story - how meditation and presence helped me through it
  • Naming our baby - Brijin is pronounced like Bridget but with a "jin" at the end (it's the Swedish version ... will tell you more about it later.
  • My hospital stay
  • My breastfeeding journey - boy, is it one! definitely a LEARNED experience and your first team effort with your child
  • Bringing home baby
  • Adapting our dog Charlie to our new bundle of Brijin Joy
  • Continuing to learn and feel confident taking care of our daughter
Please comment (hit comment button beneath post) and let me know if I left anything out that you want to know, and I'll fill you in on the details.

I've truly enjoyed sharing my pregnancy through my blog and plan to continue Yoga Mama as I journey through motherhood. My yoga practice will have to focus on meditation and breath for several weeks as my body returns back to normal, and I will try to incorporate yoga into my posts. However I'll have to admit I may be very baby focused for a while. :) And particularly on one special lady.

Congratulations! What a beautiful baby and a beautiful name. I just happened across your blog about oh say 45 seconds ago. I was curious, do you plan on doing any mommy and me type yoga and what your views are on the subject. I've heard a lot of conflicting stuff and would love to know what you think, having just had a baby.

She is so precious, Marjie!!! Libby sent pictures around at work ~ what a doll. I wish I could have come visit you in the hospital, but now I am finally back in town w/ no foreseeable trips in the future. After you get rested up and are ready for visitors, let me know!

Congrats! I was checking every day in anticipation! I'm so glad everything went well. I love her name and hope you post more photos of her and how motherhood is treating you.

I'll be posting my experience soon... in a week or so, I think!

Thanks everyone for all the comments! I sneaked on the computer to see what I had and will be back later to comment to you each individually.

Oh, she is lovely!!!! So precious! Treasure every minute and take good, good care of YOURSELF, too!!

If you lived in NJ, I would say contact me for any breastfeeding info or help or support you need (actually, feel free to ask anyway, I would be happy to help:) ). But on a practical level, be sure to reach out to a lactation consultant &/or La Leche League Leader close to home if you need to.

Congratulations to your new family! Best of luck!

Hey Marjie, congratulations on your beautiful bundle of joy! She's a doll and will certainly be the focus of your life for the next XXX years. Take advantage of it and enjoy as much of it as you can.

Questions about breastfeeding? Feel free to give me a call. Been there. Done that. Wearing the shirt. Got the hat. Five times!

Going back to facebook to see the rest of your photos!

Jasmine -
I do plan on doing mommy and me yoga. My sister-in-law gave me a book way back at Xmas. Can't think of the name of it right now though, but it also includes baby massage, which looks like another great way to bond. Sure both will be blog posts sooner than later. Keep checking back.

Clint -
As always, thanks for reading and commenting!

Maria -
You are welcome to meet Brijin anytime. I'll text or e-mail you soon to set up a date!

Stacey -
I'm so glad you're still checking back, even with all the baby talk! Will try to get more yoga focused sooner than later! ;)

KO Connie -
I'm so glad you've been keeping up with my blog. Before we left for the hospital, my hub thought I was a complete nut for taking the time to post but I knew people would be wondering!! LOL! At least the few loyals! ;)

I may have to take you up on the breastfeeding advice. We're a little hit or miss right now, but still working on it!

Brandy -
So great to hear from you! How's your pregnancy???

Mary -
You do have tons of experience! Make sure to check my blog and keep in communique with me on Facebook!

CONGRATS! CONGRATS!! Christy sent me lots-o-pics of baby girl and she is absolutely precious! Hang in there with the B-feeding... it's a labor love that's worth every waking minute and every lost flap of skin -- ugh! And if you need any words of encouragement -- call me anytime!

Thanks for checking back in - I need to see how you're doing! Hope teaching is going well.

Glad you found me too. Keep returning. Not sure of my frequency with having a newborn, but I'm going to try to 3-5 times a week. We'll see how close I get!

Thanks for checking back in! I may need to take you up on the breastfeeding advice. We're very hit or miss right now. This evening though, Brijin was going TO TOWN with her feeding so maybe we're turning a corner. Definitely is a lot of work. In fact, I better go catch some zzzsss while she is!

Love to all!
